Failure comes in many forms regardless of status or background. Currently leadership failure is dealt with in a number of ways. Some organizations simply banish the leader and send him away with a brief comment and no further explanation. Others have an outside leader come in to set things in order. Still others have the leader stand up and confess in great detail of his or her sin. Some begin a restoration process well but because they lack the expertise and support to see it through to completion. The pressure of perceived urgency often contributes to an effort to achieve a rapid conclusion which short cuts necessary steps. In cases where a leader is very gifted there can be focus on restoring the “ministry” rather than a concentrated focus on restoring “the person” first and foremost. If the process is not completed it leaves the failed leader and the organization impaired to fulfill their God given destiny. And the organization if they had followed the right process could have healed and even move forward stronger than ever before.
It is our conviction that a successful model for the integrity of leaders and recovery and restoration of fallen leaders will consist of four unique parts, the fourth of which is producing Literature to deal with "Failuer" and "Restoration".
The Center’s materials are like railroad tracks that have a given destination and we provide an engine to drive that train down the tracks. We are producing new materials and aggregate of the best of materials already in the marketplace. The Center would become marketplace leader and become a kind of “Good Housekeeping” seal of approval.
Leader Assessment and Consultation
For pastors and lay leaders who are in need of personal, professional or relationship assistance, the “Leader Assessment and Consultation” teams provide personal, marital, relationship, ministry and organizational assessment with a plan for restoration and growth involving the development and provision of the necessary interventions and supports to insure success.
The Method - Leader Assessment and Consultation combines research validated tools and methods from clinical and counseling psychology, executive coaching, team building, spiritual assessment and consultation, spiritual direction, Ministry assessment and consultation, and counseling and psychotherapy. Referrals come to us from denominational and ministry network entities, individual churches, colleagues and family members. Rarely do individuals in need self refer. The issues involved in referral include burnout, compassion fatigue, moral failure, at risk for moral failure, criminal activity, loss of vision and drive, disappointment, and the perception that God’s will and call for the individual or church exceeds what is currently being accomplished.
The Consultation begins with the initial phone or email contact. Sufficient information is acquired to conceptualize the assessment. A 3 day Intensive Assessment/Consultation is scheduled and staffed with the team that is deemed most appropriate for the situation. We have served individuals, couples, and entire ministry teams and their spouses with Intensive Assessment and Consultation services and follow up consultation. Participants complete a personal/relationship and ministry history and several personal and relationship tests prior to arrival.
The Intensive Assessment and Consultation is designed to assess what is happening in the leader’s life, develop a plan for restoration and take the first steps down a path of healing and wholeness.
This is done in cooperation with Eden Family Institute headed by Dr. Paul VanValin a clinical psychologist. We will coordinate these services with our team.
